  5. 対応OS: Windows Vista/7 32bit/64bit

  5. 対応OS: Windows Vista/7 32bit/64bit

  5. 対応OS: Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 32bit/64bit

  5. 対応OS: Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 32bit/64bit

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]

Your system is SLI-compatible...

How to SLI two graphics cards with different memory size?

The Nvidia official site says that the SLI cannot be enabled with two graphics cards they have mismatched memory size. But by using the Coolbits, a way in register to hack the Nvidia Control Panel in order to show the SLI option, where can make the SLI working with two cards even they have different memory size. To do that:

  1. Connect the monitor to the graphics card which has fewer memory. For example, one card has 4GB memory and another one has 2GB, the monitor should be connected to the 2GB card.
  2. Open regedit, find the path:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
  3. Add a 32 bit dword value named ‘Coolbits’ with value ’18’ (without quotation marks).
  4. Reboot
  5. After reboot a notification message like ‘Your system is SLI-compatible’ should be displayed in bottom right notification area.
  6. Open the Nvidia Control Panel, in the third menu of the ‘3D Settings’ , ‘Config SLI, Surround, PhysX’, change the ‘Disable SLI’ to ‘Maximum 3D Performance’. (If you don’t see Config SLI menu, then this method does not work for you)
  7. Done

This method has been tested on Windows 7, where several games worked well. On Windows 8, only the desktop environment worked fine; the system might become freeze if full-screen game starts up. Below is the details of my test environment:

  1. ELSA GeForce GTX 760 4GB @980MHz
  2. GALAXY GF-GTX760-E2GHD/OC Mini 2GB @1019MHz
  3. ASUS Z97-PRO (SLI-ready motherboard with SLI bridge cable installed)
  4. Windows 7 SP1 64bit English
  5. Nvidia GeForce Game-Ready Driver: 347.09

Be careful during use this method since that is not the official way to enable SLI. It might destroy the Windows OS or your system, please use it at your own risk.
